Flying at Windy Hill

Here is the procedure for legally flying at Windy Hill:

-
You must have a P4 / H4 rating to fly at Windy Hill.
-
Contact a Windy Hill Skyriders administrator, for a copy of the site regulations, liability waiver, and mailing information. Head over to the Contact page for more information, to submit a request.
-
Write a $20 cheque, made out to the Windy Hill Skyriders, to cover your annual membership fee, or submit payment via Paypal, on the Payment page.
-
Email a scanned PDF copy of your signed liability waiver to the address given to you by the site administrator, or mail a hard copy to the address given to you.
-
Once your payment and waiver have been received, a Windy Hill Skyriders administrator will apply for a special use permit from the MROSD, and will email it to you when it's ready.
-
Print out a copy of your permit, and keep it with you when flying. The park rangers will often ask to see pilots' permits.
-
Arrange for a site introduction from a Windy Hill site administrator. This is mandatory, as there are a number of hazards and airspace regulations that you need to know about, before flying.
-

Notes

-
The MROSD sometimes has a 1-month turn-around time to issue a permit.
-
Permits expire on the same date that your USHPA membership expires. Be sure to contact a Windy Hill Skyriders administrator and obtain a new permit, once you renew your annual USHPA membership (there is no cost to obtain a new permit).
-
The $20 Windy Hill Skyriders annual membership fee covers USHPA chapter dues and administration costs. Membership in the Windy Hill Skyriders is from Jan 1 - Dec 31, and is not pro-rated (i.e. if you join in September, you must pay the full $20 for the year).
