Windy Hill Skyriders is a USHPA chapter that administers hang gliding and paragliding activities at Windy Hill Open Space Preserve, in Portola Valley, CA.

Windy Hill is a Northeast facing paragliding and hang gliding site, and requires excellent pilot judgement and skills in order to be flown safely.  It is the most technical site in the Bay Area, and is unsuitable for pilots who have limited experience flying in thermic or turbulent conditions, strong wind, or who are unable to reliably execute spot landings with limited space.

 

Flying at Windy Hill requires a P4 / H4 rating, and a special use permit from the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (MROSD), which can be obtained by joining the Windy Hill Skyriders club. Keep reading, to learn more about Windy Hill, and how to fly there!
